Class Levels

MUDC usually offers classes at different levels in all the dance styles we offer. To find out what level is right for you, read on!

Latin, Street Latin, Ballroom, and New Vogue Levels

::Bronze::

Entry-level classes. These classes are a fun and easy introduction for those who are new to Dancesport.

::Silver::

Intermediate classes. These classes focus on developing confidence and style as well as expanding repertoire.

::Gold::

Advanced classes. These classes focus on refining technique as well as expanding repertoire.

::Gold Bar::

High level advanced classes. The routines in these classes involve complicated choreography. Good technique is expected, as is a firm understanding of all the steps and dances of the style.

Swing Levels

::Beginner::

This is the class for those who've never danced swing before. It's relaxed and fun. You are guaranteed to leave smiling. In this class you'll learn the basics of Charleston and 6-beat (two styles of swing dancing).

::Beginner plus::

In beginner plus you'll learn the basics of Lindy-hop, the dominant style of swing dancing around town. Lindy is a cool and sophisticated (in both senses of the word) dance, so to get the most out of this class you should definitely have done some swing dancing beforehand.

::Intermediate::

In this class you'll expand your knowledge of Lindy-hop, build on your knowledge of 6-beat and Charleston, and focus much more on technique and musicality in general. By the time you've taken this class you'll be very confident on the social dance floor, with a wide range of moves at your fingertips.

::Advanced::

Anything can happen in this class! Often it branches out into other styles of swing, particularly Balboa and 20's Charleston. There is an emphasis on advanced technique, styling, and musicality, although plenty of head-spinning new moves are covered as well.
